Faith
vs. Hope
By Pastor Caleb
FAITH
GROWS FROM THE WORD
Romans
10:17
-Another translation of this verse reads, “Faith is the warranty
deed, that the thing for which you have hoped for is at last yours.”
-Faith grows out of the Word of God.
-If your faith is not growing then you are probably not in the Word
enough.
USING
THE CORRECT TENSE
Hebrews
11:1
-If it’s not now, it’s not faith!
-Faith is present tense, hope is future tense.
-Even though you might say that you believe, if you are putting it
into the future then you are not believing, you are hoping.
-In order for it to work it must be in the correct tense - the present
tense.
-Hope is a good waiter, but a poor receiver.
-It takes a positive faith - a NOW faith - to get positive results.
“There is a lot of responsibility on a person that lives by
faith. It’s not up to God, it’s up to you. There is no
automatic faith.”
-Mark Hankins
THE
IMAGINATION OF FAITH
Mark
11:23-24
-You’ve heard people say, “I’ll believe it when
I see it.” The Holy Spirit said it to me like this, “You’ll
see it when you believe it!”
-Faith has an imagination.
-If your faith is not working then you must not have a very good imagination.
-You have to see what you are believing for, paint a picture, and
build a scene in your mind.
Matthew
21:21-22
But Jesus was matter-of-fact: "Yes—and if you embrace this
kingdom life and don't doubt God, you'll not only do minor feats like
I did to the fig tree, but also triumph over huge obstacles. This
mountain, for instance, you'll tell, 'Go jump in the lake,' and it
will jump. Absolutely everything, ranging from small to large, as
you make it a part of your believing prayer, gets included as you
lay hold of God."
“You must believe that the unseen is greater than the seen.”
-Mark Hankins
FAITH
vs. HOPE
1
Corinthians 13:13
-Paul was not inferring that hope and faith are not important.
-Each has its place, and one cannot be substituted for another.
-We cannot substitute love for hope.
-Neither can we substitute hope for faith.
-Yet so many people try to receive things from God on a basis of hope
rather than faith.
-Unbelief is really taking sides against God’s Word.
-Faith is “the evidence of things not seen,” as we read
in Hebrews 11:1.
-You might hope for finances to meet a certain obligation, but faith
gives you the assurance that you will have the money when you need
it.
-You might hope for physical strength to do a job that you must do,
but faith says, “The Lord is the strength of my life”
(Psalm 27:1).
-In other words, faith says the same thing that the Word of God says.
-Unbelief is really taking sides against God’s Word.
-Is what you are believing God for some day going to happen?
Or are you determined that it is happening NOW!
-It’s all up to you and your faith being used in the correct
tense.
